She now lives in southern California with her husband Don—her blue eyed childhood sweetheart. She has two children and one granddaughter. Her first novel, Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale, was first printed as a serial story in newspapers throughout the United States and Canada. The story was printed through Newspapers in Education programs where children read newspapers in classrooms. Janie is a survivor of childhood traumas—traumas that have led her to become a more insightful writer. The book of Julie was inspired by her memory and deep love for her grandmother as well as by her dreams—dreams that gave her strength to keep going through the difficult times in her life.
